PTX Rotary Joints
US Patent No. 5,098,135

Request Product Information

The PTX steam joint and stationary syphon system incorporate the latest developments in seal design and drying technology for paper dryers. The lightweight design makes for easy installation; yet its heavy-duty construction handles high pressure, high speed, and angular misalignment. The PTX can also accommodate thermal expansion of the dryer journal – even when used on the front side of paper machines.

The patented PTX design uses a spring-loaded piston that applies balanced pressure on the seal ring to keep it securely seated against the seal plate. The seal plate is attached to the journal or a filler flange. The seal plate rotates while the piston remains stationary. The seal ring is free floating to accommodate angular and offset misalignment.

With its spring-loaded piston and reverse seal, the Kadant Johnson PTX seal technology is a far different design than conventional seal packages. These advanced design differences make the PTX a more reliable, easier-to-maintain joint - even under the most difficult operating conditions. The PTX is rated up to 232° C (450° F), 11 bar (160 psig), and 500 RPM (8,000 fpm).
